The first installation was done for the opening of the new Sessun shop in Paris on de Charonne and consists on a taxonomy - inspired display of butterflies. Taken from original turn of the century botanical books, the colour plates of butterflies have been carefully cut out and adorned with inks, sequins, fly fishing feathers, ribbons and jewels to create 120 individual and unique butterflies, named and numbered, hanging from a wooden frame.
Next to it tapestries using a tea dyed bed cotton sheet as the base for the design. Utilising cotton thread, origami paper, fly fishing feathers and assorted accoutrement, sequins and ink, the flower and butterflies design weaves organically across the sheet to create a simple & beautiful design.
Throughout december there will be an exhibition of individual embroideries - 18 x approx. 27 cm x 40 cm for sale. Following on from the large Paris embroidery, these smaller works take the themes and distill them into 18 unique designs for purchase.
Birds and Flag designs have been hand drawn and transferred onto the cotton and sewn with fine threads. Again, feathers, sequins. fabric paints and jewels have been used to enhance the designs.
Carolina is working on the Spring/Summer displays for Sessun's shops in Marseilles, Aix-en-Provence and Paris.
